Front Door of the Pueblo Convention Center

This bronze plaque is dedicated to the USS Pueblo, its Captain and crew. Named for the City of Pueblo, many Pueblo businessmen were at the launch of this vessel. On January 23, 1968 the USS Pueblo, in an unprovoked act of war by North Korea, was attacked and seized in international waters. One crewman was killed and the remaining 83 were held prisoner for eleven months. Pueblo hosted a reunion in 2000 and this plaque was unveiled at that occasion letting crew members know that Pueblo, Colorado will never give up hope that the USS Pueblo will be returned to the United States.
