Pueblo Convention Center

320 Central Main Street

In 1993, the “Congressional Record” stated Pueblo, Colorado is the “Home of Heroes.” At that time, Pueblo was the only U.S. city with four living Medal of Honor recipients. In 2000, the Congressional Medal of Honor Society’s National Convention was held in Pueblo where four larger than life bronze sculptures were unveiled, honoring Drew Dix, William Crawford, Carl Sitter, and Raymond “Jerry” Murphy. The plaque behind the sculptures lists over 3,400 Medal of Honor recipients since its creation during Civil War times. Inside the Convention Center, visitors can view the uniforms of Pueblo’s four recipients, hear a narration of their citations, and a see digital display with the Medal of Honor citations, including documentation of many veterans whose names appear on the nearby Veteran’s Bridge.
